Sam Westermann is someone we’ve known for quite a while now, and let us just say that he is one of the best officiants on this side of the Mississippi!

We have photographed two weddings that he has officiated and he is simply a delightful human.

And he recently had a baby! (Well, his beautiful wife Dani did...!) After a scary delivery experience in the hospital, he called me up and said,

“Hey I want some happy photos of me and my new family!”

Naturally, I signed on right away. It is such a special experience to capture those fleeting-but-precious moments of a growing family.

Baby Emilia was barely 2 weeks old and as sweet as could be. Although she wasn’t super stoked on the idea of having her photo taken (honestly, same sometimes), I think we got some really sweet images of them and their amazing home.

Their house in Santa Rosa is straight-up Pinterest-worthy!

We love these types of in-home sessions. They are real, intimate, and comfortable. (Emphasis on the real––babes and kiddos are not always all giggles-and-cooing!)

Nonetheless, it was so special to spend some time with them (a-la masks and social distancing, of course!) and capture their life with their little one and sweet pup Bailey.
