Daniel & Kelsey // Embarcadero Proposal // San Francisco, California
We might be biased, but in our humble opinions, getting down on one knee and having that blink-of-an-eye moment photographed is the best idea ever! Seriously, more folks need to be on point for this. There is so much real emotion to capture.
The first question I always get asked as a photographer of said moments is, “What if they didn’t say yes?!” Well, if you’re going to hire a photographer, they are pretty confident that the answer is yes…
These sessions are so much fun. We get to run around like paparazzi or get to hide and pretend like we’re just photographing architecture, seeing the sights.
Daniel reached out about finding an intimate spot near where they lived in the Embarcadero of San Francisco. We found a great courtyard with a beautiful atmosphere — inconspicuous, but private and intimate. The lighting was absolutely perfect — always a win from the photographer’s perspective.
We arranged a time to meet there, incognito, of course. Murphy’s law, another couple came and sat down on the exact bench where we had decided this would all go down. The was literally no one else in sight. Hilarious.
They started noshing on a couple of sandwiches, all the while staring at me, because I was hovering around them, hoping they would free up the spot! Right as Daniel and Kelsey showed up, they sandwich eaters left. Hallelujah.
Kelsey was astounded, she fully had no idea and couldn’t stop giggling! It was the cutest thing. She was even more shocked to find out that I was there capturing it all.
We kept it super mellow, running around the Embarcadero for a little bit, then they went on their way to celebrate with their friends.
I am always so honored to be a part of these moments, and especially to capture such a joyous time in these strange moments of the world.
Really looking forward to their wedding day when they’ll be safe to celebrate with all their people!
